I just wanted to introduce myself also. My name is Carla and I live in Florida. I am 10 years out and I have maintained a 145 pound weight loss. I had surgery 10 years ago. I am married for 32 years and have one child wiho is 30.
We move to Florida 5 years ago from colorado. I decided to ditch the ice and snow for a warmer climate and I love living the dream!!!!!

Welcome to the forum Carla. I just had an RNY on 2/27/12. Everything seems to be doing OK. I felt real good yesterday so I did a few things around the house and now my tummy is sore all over. I plan on doing NOTHING at all for the next few days to help speed along the healing process. I envy you for moving to a warmer climate. I'm sort of tossing that around myself.

Congrats on your successful weight loss. Make sure to come back to the forum to let everyone know how you are doing and to offer advice to those of us who are just starting our journey.

Hi Carla... I'm 3 weeks post op and feeling great!!! Congratulations on keeping your weight off for so long, that's a great accomplishment!! We've moved cross country as well and wish I could say that I also live in a warm sunny place. We moved back to Missouri from Phoenix Arizona due to my Husbands job and I really do love the small rural town we live in but the cold winters and humid summers really affect me! Perhaps some day we will move back out West to Phoenix or Tucson... We really love the dessert!!

I was awfully sick late last week as I ended up with a bit of food poisoning or a stricter of which I will probably never know which because its all better now.

I cannot begin to say how absolutely fantastic I feel!!! I had lost 30 pounds on my own before surgery on 2/16/12 and now have lost another 20 in just 3 weeks. Actually I haven't weighed for about a week, so its probably more because I was vommiting from last Thursday until about 3am Saturday.

I live in Southeast Missouri in a small rural town, but, my surgery was done by Dr. Eagon at Barnes Jewish Hospital - Downtown St. Louis, MO. I was only in the hospital for 4 days, but my surgeon had estimated that I would be in ICU for up to 2 weeks and perhaps would have to be moved to a vent facility after I was stable. However, the power of prayer and GOD interviened and I was in ICU for only 17 hours and then to a regular room!! Praise GOD that so many people were praying for me. I had a pre-surgical trach put in 3 weeks prior to my bypass, which kept me from being intibated during surgery and that's part of why I did so well plus all the prayers from all over the globe!!

I'm looking forward to the day that I can say I'm ??? weight, I'd like to be between 135 - 140 pounds and have kept if off for as long as you have... Again, congratulations Carla on your achievements and the guts and desire to live out your dream...
Susan.
