Holy Acid Reflux Batman!

So.... had sleeve surgery on 1/11. The last 2 nights I’ve experienced severe acid reflux. I take a Prilosec in the morning and I’m getting up now twice in the middle of the night with excruciating chest pain. I’ll take some mylanta/maalox which gives me some relief but only for a couple of hours and then I’m up again. I’m still sleeping propped up, which I was hoping would help. I haven’t ever had acid reflux.... the only thing I’ve ever had is an occasional sour stomach, which I’ve just popped a couple of Tums and called it a day....Has anyone experienced this?
Oh & I have my post op visit with my doctor on Wednesday and this issue is at the top of my list to discuss!

So sorry Meg. That's good that you have an appointment this week but it wouldn't hurt to give a call tomorrow morning and let them know what is going on. Feel better!

Hi Meg, I used to drink aloe vera gel for duodenal ulcers. Worked like a charm.

Oh wow! I’ve never heard of drinking aloe Vera gel. I’ll have to look into it. Thank you!

Hello Meg, I am new on the site. I had Gastric Sleeve surgery on 10/21/2020.
Reading your message don't wait. Please call your surgeon office, they are there for you. If you are that uncomfortable, call and ask questions, do not wait until your appointment. YOU just had a major surgery if it was 1/11/2021.
Also, I am a medical assistant at primary care office and yes, I would tell a patient the same thing if you don't feel right call, they gave you an after hours surgeon number I'm sure. Don't wait, ask the experts.

Update: had my appointment with my nutritionist & surgeon today. To help with the acid reflux, he prescribed pepsid at night before bed. (I’m already taking Prilosec in the mornings). Also with all the hunger pains I’ve been having all day & night, they suggested I start the purée phase of the post op diet tomorrow! I gotta tell ya, I’m really looking forward to moving on from full liquid! The office is going to check in on me Monday to see if I’m doing any better. I pray that both of these changes help!
