Holy Rash!

Hey all! Surgery was June 1 and feeling better every day. My surgical tape came off my incisions about two weeks ago and they started itching right away. What started as itching turned into a full blown rash all over my stomach. My incisions are healed but has anyone else experienced this? I called my surgeon Friday and they said go right to the ER which I did. It’s just contact dermatitis from the surgical tape (apparently TONS of people who have had recent surgeries where this tape was used are all getting these allergic reactions) but wanted to know if this happened to anyone else and how long it lasted? I got a cortisone shot and mega cortisone cream but I’m itching over here!!

i am 1 week post op and have major itching at the wounds sites. i used a baby rash ointment that seems to have taken care of the issue for now.

Congrats on the surgery & continued progress!

I didn't have any issues with surgical tape, but I do have the odd dermatitis flare occasionally - my doc recently suggested a daily anti histamine to see if that stops it, zyrtec - I'm doing the generic version from walgreens.
