How do we count weight loss?

When counting total pounds loss do we count all weight loss or just the weight loss since the surgery?
Count total girl, you've earned it!!!

Okay. 75lbs down. 14lbs since the surgery. I haven't last any in a few days. Should I do weekly weights or daily? Wondering if the days with no weight loss is normal I still haven't been able to drink much. Added 16oz bottle of crystal light, 6 oz jello, a coffee cup of chicken broth, and coffee cup of tea, along with 2 oz of the bariatric fusion protein drink.

75 is awesome!

I'm a strong believer in weekly weigh-ins. Daily fluctuations are normal and can drive you nuts. On any given day you may be retaining water and see a temporary gain or you could be dehydrated and show a "false" loss. I find that weekly, the results are more accurate and you won't drive yourself crazy. I get on the scale each Friday morning after I pee, right before my shower.

You count all of it. Because let's be honest. The main reason and motivating factor as to why people lose so much weight beforehand, is because they know they're going to have the surgery, and they're excited for it. And it's also easier to lose weight, because you actually have a positive attitude, because you are so ready for this life changer. Without that motivating factor, most people wouldn't lose nearly as much weight otherwise. I lost 90lbs before surgery, and I know the only reason why I was able to do that was because I knew I was having the surgery. And once I was approved by my insurance, I lost weight like a maniac, because I knew I no longer had to have a BMI of 40 anymore. Also I was on a full liquid diet for a month. 2 weeks prior, then 2 weeks after. So I dropped at least 40lbs in that span.

I weigh daily - but this is a personal thing for myself. I need the daily reminder of my goal, and I am mindful of the fluctuations that are normal for my body, or if I had something with more salt, etc.. I know that the daily check is not good for everyone and that there are a lot of people that only do weekly. Everyone is different, and you should do what works for you... plus there is nothing saying you can't change your method if it is not working for you!
