How do you get Blue Cross to cover a brachioplasty?

Hi there Does anyone have any advise on how to get Blue Cross to cover a brachioplasty. They only will tell me it has to be deemed medically necessary, but will not tell me what documentation is needed to prove it medically necessary.

Its only considered medically necessary if it interferes with the function of your arm. Which is unlikely so it's unlikely to be covered as long as your arms are moving in the ways nature intended.

I'm not sure this is true for everyone. My baby cousin had very large arms. And the amount of skin hanging from her arms is shocking. Shes 29, so she thought she'd have a little more elasticity. I'm sure she would rather have the scar. I mean, her excess skin is the size of my calf.

That being said, insurance won't cover it. Which I have to say is BS. The amount of money we save our insurance companies by improving our health should allow anyone to have excess skin removal, whether its impairing your health or not. Especially since it can certainly impact your mental health!!!

Sorry but good luck. typically it has to interfere with your normal movements and/or infections or rashes. Basically effect your life on a physical level, not mental. It sucks, we pay so much money for insurance.

@dianeseattle plastic surgery scars are VERY minimal once healed. Of course, assuming you didn't get a hack and they do their job properly. Most of the time unnoticeable unless you are looking for them.
