How long after gastric sleeve surgery can one take milk of magnesia

Hi All-

Any suggestions on how long after gastric sleeve surgery can one start taking milk of magnesia? It’s been 4 days post surgery and still no BM.

Water intake has been 60 oz each day and still no movement.

Also, is it safe to take stool softening soft gels right after surgery

You might want to send the drs office a note/call to check. I didn’t poop for a while after surgery. Probably a week or more. I was worried, but at that time it was normal. I was taking miralax. I think my drs office said after 3 days with no BM then meds could be taken.

My Dr said that if we go anymore than 3 days without movement then to call the office. That is probably the safest bet at this point.
