How long did you take off work after surgery?

I took off six weeks. I could have probably gone back at 3 but I wanted to take the time to get used to my new tummy and feel well. My doctor gave me 6 weeks of state disability so I just took it all. I have a 30-40% desk job and the rest is driving around getting in and out of a vehicle.

I have a very physical, fast paced job and took 6 weeks off. I’m really glad I did, now going into my fourth week, I still struggle sometimes to meet my fluid and protein goals. I’m also on a 15# lifting restriction for 6 weeks, but had hiatal hernia repair as well as RNY.

I also took 6 weeks. My job was not physically demanding but I did stand or walk for 10hrs and could not have food or water, except on scheduled breaks. I wanted to be on a full diet before I tried to coordinate that!

I took a month but went back in 3 weeks, I kinda worked part time on that 3rd week and then was back to normal on week 4.
I was just exhausted the first week I went back, by lunch time I was crashing. Went home and took a nap each day and then my body adjusted and it was pretty easy from there.

I only was able to take off 4 days. Because I had to get staff payroll in or they would not have been happy. LOl I did not do any lifting for 4 weeks. It was hard to have the staff let me to much even at the 4 weeks.
