Hello there! My name is Mitch and I have a surgery scheduled for July 27th, 2022. Its been quite the journey to get here but in the end it will pay off. My first attempt to get this surgery done was in 2019, and I failed. I couldn't control my blood sugars enough to get my A1C down under 9 as requested by my medical team. Then the Pandemic hit. In 2021 I decided I was tired of the weight gain again and tried a second time. Got everything done and was denied insurance approval. Luckily, as this was happening, I was transitioning jobs and found an insurance company that would cover the surgery. Its nice to meet you all.

My journey before surgery was long also. I will say that it prepares you better in the long run. It is priceless and even better that you have found this site. The information, the different experiences, the people is more than you could have ever asked for. The support and encouragement from people who have been there, done that is beyond imagination. I even turned my dr on to this site. Welcome and May your journey/adventure be everything you want it to be.

I got really lucky it seems with how fast mine Went through. I had my first appointment with my surgeon (it was a 3 hour class with other patients) on March 28th 2022. By may I had everything done that was required and was approved by my insurance. They scheduled me June 21st. My advocate said she had never seen anyone get everything done so fast. I thought she was just be really nice. I have known others who have had the surgery, but don't know any struggles they went through trying to get approved. I thought I was going to have more issues getting approved by my insurance because my family practitioner said I might because I didn't need to lose 100 lbs or more.

I hope you're surgery went without a hitch! Please let us know how you're doing!!
