I have done everything but my surgeon has not helped me at all. In fact I believe he has made it worse. I can't absorb much of anything now and thus I have a feeding tube and pick line. It is hard for me to keep foods down and I am never hungry. Where I live there is only 1 doctor here and I refuse to go back to him. I was told the only way I can live is to have it reversed but they will not do that because I am not healthy enough to make it through the surgery.Have you reached out to your surgeon or your local bariatric program? It sounds like you probably need professional help for this. Although, for now there are smoothie recipes out there for cancer patients that have extra nutrients and calories that might help you start to at least feel a little better until a medical professional can figure out what's wrong.
Thank you for your comment to my post. Yes for years I have gone through everything with my Dr but he has only made it worseIt's important to talk to your doctor about that. Please let us know how it goes. We're glad you are here. Everyone is pretty darned nice.
What is a tertiary facility? Thank you so much for your reply. I am going through so much that I do not know what to do. I am in a tremendous fog at this point.. but I just reached out to catholic charities for help. You need to be seen at a tertiary medical facility if there is no one in your community who is able to help. This is something that a primary care doctor can do, and most university programs have a stream lined process for making that referral usually with a phone call. Your nutritional status does need to be buffed up before you could be considered a safe surgical candidate - but that can be done through your feeding tube or PICC line. rjbj is also totally correct - you need someone to advocate for you - this is going to take pit bull persistence and tenacity, and I can't imagine that at 85# your body has the fuel to spare to do all this on your own right now.
If you are unable to get a referral, as a last resort only, you could just present yourself to the ER at a bigger medical center, and they can refer you to the appropriate specialist(s). You are going to have to be persistent- this is not easy for you, and it is not going to be easy for whatever doctor(s) get involved with your case, because things have already gone wrong. Good luck to you.
Thank you so muchI really don't have any advice but I wanted to wish you the best and really hope you get help figuring everything out.
