I need help!!!

Hi, I am new to the group, had my surgery done in 2004 weighing in at 286, lost down to 185, never really reaching my goal weight of 165. Over the past year I have begun to put weight back on and I am now up to 201. I feel so disgusted and discouraged with myself. I guess I am reaching out for encouragement, tips or a scolding to help me get back on track and take control again. Any advice?

Hi Callan, Welcome. Sounds like you have been scolding yourself enough, so there is no need for us to do that:rolleyes: Now quit beating yourself up over it so you can start working on getting back on track. You have done a great job taking off over 100 lbs and keeping it off for 8 years. Your pouch is more than likely still in good shape but give the 5 day pouch test a go to help you kick start your old meal plans back into action, you can find it at the following link: http://www.americanbariatrics.org/content.php/80-Roux-en-Y-Gastric-Bypass-5-Day-Pouch-Test

If you still have all your old meal plans that were suggested upon release that would be a good guide to use for meal planning, however things may have changed a bit in the past 8 years so I would suggest going to a nutritionist that specializes in bariatric meal planning and it would also behoove you to start going to support group meetings if there are any in your local area, you can get all kinds of good meal planninmg and exersice tips there. Speaking of exesice make sure to keep up on that or start back into it again if you have been letting it slide. I hope I was able to help you out a little and give you a starting point, make sure to keep us updated on your progress, you have been doing great so far and this is a minor bump in the road. Tom

Callan-Tom gave you the same advice I would have but I want to welcome you to the forum. Make sure to come back to the forum and let us know how you are doing.

Welcome to the forum. I would suggest to start journaling your food intake, and then you can see where your trouble spots are and correct them. Good luck!

Thanks!

Thank you guys for your response, and advice....I started the 5 day Pouch test today. I am determined to stick with this, I have come too far to blow it now....I will let you know how things are progressing. Support really is vital in this journey opf success, you are never too far out for that.

Callan-I think you are doing the right thing. I hope things work out for you and would like to know if the 5 day pouch test works. Please let us know. Quite a few people said they were going to try it but I can't remember anyone who reported back one way or the other.

Congratulations, Callan, on picking yourself up and continuing on. I hope you find the 5-day pouch test helpful and I imagine you will. No need to wait until Monday to check in, Woman! We're here for you way before that. Don't be bashful. Just holler out. Somebody's bound to be around sooner or later.
