I'm new and looking for support

Hello everyone,
I had surgery on Tuesday May 25, 2021. I got the sleeve. I was really nervous but with a great support system I made it through the surgery part. Now I am struggling with the two weeks of full liquid diet. I've been doing the protein shakes and staying hydrated but I want some solid food. I know it's a mind thing. Looking for suggestions of how to make it through these two weeks.

Hi, welcome to the group! Glad your surgery went well. Some people do have difficulty wanting solids right after surgery so you are not alone. Please don't rush the process as I have seen and/or heard people who regret when they try to jump the gun and eat food ahead of schedule. Try to distract yourself as best as you can so you are not thinking about solid food. Also make sure you break up the monotony of your liquid intake and vary the ways you get that protein in. There are powdered protein soups that aren't too bad. Vary your protein drink flavors. When allowed, have pudding and add in protein powder. Get creative! Peruse the old posts here as I think there are lots of suggestions for those first couple of weeks out of surgery. Good luck!

Jello you eat with spoon. Add protein. Popsicles sugar free, you chew them it helps get over the wanting solid food thing sorta. But only one a day. Too many carbs.

I came here for mentor and support. Great bunch of people. Very positive and uplifting. Covid killed a lot of in person support groups. On the other hand here you can get support anytime day, or night. When you need it most. I prefer here myself.

Hi. What Judy said lol Heat something up, add pudding, change up your flavors or add ice to your protein shake and blend it. Basically anything to give you some variety, especially texturally. You really do not want to try solid food yet. The majority of people have a bit of an issue when they get to solid foods so hold off until you're given the okay. Stay busy and focus on making what you can have as appetizing as possible. And remind yourself that you've done this FOR yourself not TO yourself. Good luck.

Think about those staples holding your stomach together and it will quell the solid food urge. It is too early and you totally don't want to pop a staple, besides that not sure that the new stomach wants to try to digest solids, it might hurt or make you vomit.
My favorite was fruit ice pops, I didn't even do sugar free because you aren't eating any calories anyway. It made me feel like a took a bite of something. I ended up tossing a lot in the trash, couldn't face another one after I advanced the diet.
