Just a little thought

It been on my mind. And I know everyone knows about my health issues. But we have gotten down to it. It is not related to the surgery one bit. My family suffers from neuropathy and mine just started. Thyroids as well. We all are different and please when you read my post don't think that this happens to everyone. No my genetics has played a big part in this. Between vertigo and neuropathy it is pretty bad. But on top of it I have to watch out for ovarian cancer as well. I finally got ahold of my dad's side. And this is where this is all coming from. I got hit double with thyroids I got hit double with diabetes. I got hit double with obesity. My uncle had the surgery before me. And we been working back and forth keeping each other going strong. My mom's side ain't that big but my dad's side is. They both come from big families. My mom has 4 siblings and my dad has 5. I guess that is where I wanted to have more the 2 kids. But my only thought is that please for you members that are waiting for surgery or those that is thinking about it don't judge the success for yourself based of someone else's journey. We all are different and our journeys are too. I will push myself to get better but I now know that this is a lifetime change but I don't have to sit back and watch my life go by.

Thanks for the info, and stay strong.

Well, the good news, is that the surgery will help you with all of those problems. Like you said, everyone is different, but the problems should lessen significantly if you follow all the rules. They might even be reversed to the point where you no longer need to take medication for it anymore.

And you are right. You can't judge someone's results to yours. This is a snowflake surgery. There are no two cases that are alike. And it's one of the few surgeries that still requires willpower in order for it to be effective. As opposed to just regular maintenance. And you get out of it, what you put in.

Obesity runs on both sides of my family as well. I have 3 family members who have had surgery (that I know of). Unfortunately 2 had the band when it was all the rage, had it adjusted multiple times until finally having it removed after regain. One has since passed from a multitude of health problems related to her obesity, the other confessed to me that she thinks that she's supposed to be fat. It's sad because she's beautiful & young but very unhappy with herself. Knowing the facts about the low long-term rate of success, I wish I could convince her that the band wasn't the answer she was looking for, that RNY or DS have much higher success rates. To try again! But it's not my place.

You should invite her to join us on here. Maybe it will give her some support and show her that there is other surgeries that do work. What works for you may not work for her.
