Hi, I had my surgery on May 8th and feel fine. No pain or hunger so far although I sleep a lot. I still look and feel fat and am over 220 pounds but feel hopeful.
Any suggestions, tips or advice would be most welcome. I am all alone, haven't told anyone because I'm ashamed so need support. So far, it seems easy and painless. I still have bandages on my incisions which don't hurt but beyond that, I feel pretty normal.
Hi Ariadne,
Please don't feel like you're alone, there is a whole community of us out here who want to be a part of your journey. Were you given info on support groups in your area from your surgeon's office? I've only gone to one so far but people there seemed genuine and without any judgement. I understand not wanting to tell those around you who you feel will judge you.
I've only told the 2 closest people in my life who I know I can trust and who want me to be happy. No one outside these people know, they all just think I'm on yet-again another diet. Since I've yo-yo'd my whole life, it's not unusual for me to be loosing this kind of weight. Keeping it off is what will be surprising to everyone, including myself. That is the primary reason, (after a decade of going back and forth on surgery, lost the pre-op weight and was actually scheduled for surgery, but cancelled back in 2008 & 2012) I finally pulled the trigger. I'm sick of doing the hard work for months, falling off the wagon, and in the blink of an eye, being back to my starting weight (or more).
I'm glad your recovery is going well and that your feeling good for the most part. Try to be grateful for that and don't focus on still looking "fat". That's just a matter of time girlie! I'm in your weight range (225 lbs) but being down from my all-time highest (290), I feel great about it. Plus I know that every time I see a new, lower weight on the scale (even if it's only a 2lb loss), it's the last time I'll ever see that number. How exciting is that???

How much weight have you lost since starting the pre-op diet? Focus on that victory for now!
Best of luck, keep us posted on your journey.
