Lactose intolerance

I notice a lot of people state they get their protein from soft cheeses and many seem to have problems with meat protein. I can't have dairy and I don't like any of the alternatives (soy, almond, rice, etc) that are out there. So, does that leave protein powders as the only way? And how did you determine which ones tasted best to you? I sure don't want to spend $$ on purchasing full size bottles of powders, only to find I don't like the taste. Are there sites that sell individual servings so that I can taste them?

Eggs, ground beef, lean pork, turkey, chicken and fish. For me some fish proteins are to firm i.e. tuna steak or halibut. The softer fish protein like sole, pacific cod and salmon work best for me. Lobster is great.

Some of the soy products have really improved, so you might try them again if it has been awhile. Some of the lactose free products have gone from inedible to quite good.

most websites have single serve packets to try. I prefer Unjury which is pretty good mixed with water. I love the strawberry mixed with lemonade

A lot of the sites have protein powder sample packs so that you can try different flavors. BJ's Bariatrics comes to mind, but I'm sure there are others.
