Liquid temperature

Hi All,

I’m just a few weeks from having my gastric sleeve surgery. I just finish the required pre/post op diet class. I was curious to know what temperature you were able to tolerate after the sleeve? Currently, I love drinking iced cold water. But, I’ve read some can’t tolerate really cold or hot liquids.

Immediately post-op sucking on ice chips (it's the only thing you get) was awesome, it helped with the surgical pain quite a bit. For me, weeks 1-3 was a liquid & puree diet which included broth & soups that I sipped very hot & steamy. So I did not encounter any temperature limits personally.

Oh that’s great news. The closer I get to the surgery the more I’m second guessing having it done. Thank you!

Before my VSG I loved room temperature beverages and use to order water no ice. Now all beverages need to be ice cold or they are less enjoyable. My new stomach doesn't like very hot drinks at all.

I have had an easier time with hot liquids since my first surgery, and for a long time, I could do cool, but not ice cold liquid. That was hard, but now I am to the point that I can do iced drinks.
