I am now almost 9 months POST RNY surgery. My liver enzymes numbers were normal with my pre-surgery bloodwork. They have gone up each time I have had them run. Has anyone had a similar experience? My surgeon is sending me to see my gastroenterologist, but I doubt he knows much about this type of surgery and health consequences (for lack of a better word.)

Sorry to hear you are having a problem with your liver numbers. I don't recall anyone mentioning this before but you could try to do a search in the upper right hand corner. I hope the gastroenterologist can figure this out, good luck.

This is likely unrelated to your surgery. And also, you should have confidence that a gastroenterologist knows a lot about RNY - they deal with patients like us all the time. Sounds like your surgeon is doing a great job making that referral.

Do you know specifically which liver enzymes are elevated? Some liver enzymes are liver-specific, but others (isoenzymes) are present in other tissues/organs as well.
