Media Recommendations?

Hi Everyone!
I’m in the countdown to my surgery (40 days to surgery, 25 to the pre-op diet) and I’m looking for things to keep me distracted but might be helpful in my post-op path. I’m looking for books, audiobooks, podcasts, YouTubes, TikToks, and anything else you can recommend!
I’m looking for the following subject: WLS, food addiction, generalized recovery (it can be 12 step or not but be broad in scope enough to be relatable to food), gratitude practices, and meditation for food addiction or general recovery. It doesn’t have to be explicitly related to these subjects (for example, I find Brené Brown’s books and talks very helpful on this journey).
I only have one hard “no” and that is anything Christian-based. Nothing against Christians. I believe religion is simply the lens through which we see the divine nature of the universe. However, as a Jew, we diverge pretty drastically in the shape of that lens. As a result, I find the Christian-based media a bit jarring. Other than that, I’ll look into anything else!

I just started listening to a podcast by Reeger Cortell, a Nurse Practitioner, that she calls simply “Weight Loss Surgery Podcast”. I haven’t even finished the first one but It’s one of the best I’ve heard. Too many of them, for me, are two women having a good time together rather than an informative podcast. This one, however, is very down to earth and helpful-at least episode 111 is!
I also like Dr. Weiner-learned about him here.

Depending on what your into...I heard "My Grandmothers Hands" is a good book. I started reading and can never stay focused to read and learning I do not retain audio books. My current audio book is "Maybe you should talk to someone"

I really love what I have read/watched of Brene Browns work. I think everybody needs to read The Gifts of Imperfection

I have taken a few (free) courses on Coursera on nutrition. You just sign up and take them at your own pace. There are a few of them that you don't get to take the "exams" if you don't pay to get the certificate, so it's more like auditing a class but you still get all of the information. I really enjoyed The Stanford Introduction to Food and Health and Weight Management: Beyond Balancing Calories (Emory).

I love that podcast!!! Reeger is awesome. This is one of the few I’ve already listened to. I’ve listened to about 1/3 of the library. I agree that her podcast is extremely useful, with real usable information. Finding this podcast is what prompted me to ask for more recommendations.

This is not new material, but I used to love to read Geneen Roth books or Melody Beattie. Geneen is Jewish so you might be interested in her childhood story "When Food Is Love" about her relationship with her mother. Made me wonder about my mom and our relationship and how food became a problem for me. Beattie writes about codependency which is related in a round about way. My biggest obstacles are psychological so I tended to focus on that aspect of my behavior.

Be sure to check out her interviews with Randy Seeley. It's her interviews with him that set me off on a deep dive into researching how surgery works, which got me convinced to do the surgery and then got me further interested in the microbiome and researching that. She's got some great content. I wish she was still producing them. I don't think she's posted anything since spring of 2020. There are many that are worthwhile to listen to.

"Codependent No More" is my bible!
And the little book with the Daily meditations, I can't remember the name should Google it. Everything I read from her helped me deal with myself.

Reeger Cortell has some fantastic podcast and I agree with Ryan, Randy Seely is great to listen to on her podcast. IF anyone likes Podcast on WLS hers are among the best. I hope that she will resume where she left off.

I love it too but it isn’t recent. She stopped doing it but I listen to old ones.
