Hello All,
My name is Nashay, I am from North Wales Pennsylvania. I finally taken the first step to become a healthier me. After starting and stop the process several times for vsg surgery. This time this is it, when I told my sister who I thought would supply me out of everyone, that I’m being lazy and putting my body through unnecessary surgery. Then I asked my best friend to be my support, her reply was I’m not trying hard enough and I’m taking the easy way out. Any other time I would have allowed their opinions to discourage me. However, I’m on a mission to conquer the best part of me! I’m just upset I don’t have the support I thought I had. I came on here hoping to find someone to be that support system.

I’m sorry to say this but your sister and friend sound like real drags. Never mind, I’m not sorry. They have no idea how hard this process is. You are going to find so much support here. Anyone who thinks this is the easy way out has no clue what you have to go through mentally and physically. I’m sorry they’re acting like that. We got your back though!

This whole site is very supportive. You are making the right decision for you. People will set out to sabotage you. It's hard to let that go. It's about them, not you. They don't know anything about the surgery and reasons why it works.

Thank you, People don’t know the struggle this is very hard for me. I been doing weight watchers and gained weight. How do you gain weight on weight watchers.

You gain weight on WW by eating too much. Plain and simple. If you track and look at the nutritional content, you will be surprised.
I tracked, measured, and made sure I came in under my points. I switch medication, multiple tests and screenings. This information was shared with my primary physician and psychiatrist they both agreed for me to see the bariatric doctor.

You will find support here! It is unfortunate that people you thought you could rely on do not step up when you need them; there are a lot of misconceptions and misunderstandings about the surgery and obesity in general. You are making a choice for yourself toward health, and you don't need the approval of others to make that choice. I would definitely be sure that you get involved with a counselor, stay involved in this group, and/or get involved in a support group where you live. I lost someone I believed was my best friend over my decision to have surgery because she "told me not to"... funny how people think they have the right to make choices for you. Good luck on your journey!!

It sounds like WW did not work for you. Some medications can make on gain weight. Check and see if any you are on affect weight. Keep hanging in there. You are taking care of yourself, which is your number one priority. This journey can be hard, but it is well worth it.

I'm in Williamsport Pa. I'm having my surgery on the 23rd of this month so if u need anyone to talk with I'm here! Having Gastric bypass. Your best friend and sister have no idea how much it takes to keep on our journey. Like I said if u need someone to talk to I'm here.

Having Gastric bypass surgery is not the easy way out. It is hard because your whole lifestyle changes. New eating habits and how you look at food.

I also could use support too I'm willing to help you I just got through my first nutritionist visit now the hard part is eating 60 to 80 grams of protein I'm here if you need someone
