Welcome, Dennisse,

I'm glad you've found your way to this Forum. It's a great place to give and receive support.

How is it you've decided to have such a radical surgery when you're only about 60 pounds overweight? Do you have other health problems stemming from your weight?

Is that Dr. Mario Almanza in San Diego? Or in Tijuana, Mexico?

Yes he is Tijuana Mexico.my reason for my surgery is that I have high blood pressure and I'm a diabetic.
I can not keep my weight under control.

Truly excellent reasons. I, too, look forward to NO MORE diabetic symptoms, hoping for complete resolution with wls.

My son went to Tijuana for his wls, August 2012, has had a very positive experience and results. He had a different surgeon, however, and was in a different hospital.

November 12 is just around the corner. You must be sooo excited!

I'm very excited I can wait... My husband is worried cause ill be out their by my self .....

If it's set up anything like my son's . . .

A driver will pick you up at the airport in San Diego and transport you to the hospital. Your husband should be able to call you there at the hospital to talk to you.

Barring any complications, the day after the surgery, they will transport you to the Hotel in Tijuana where you will stay for 2 or 3 days. Again, your husband will be able to call you there at the hotel to talk to you. If you have a drain, the surgeon or one of his staff will come to the hotel to remove it.

When it's time, their driver will pick you up from the Hotel and take you back to the airport in San Diego, where you will get on a big silver bird and fly home to hubs' loving arms!

You should be just fine.

Question- Why are you going to Mexicao for the surgery and not having it done in FL where you live?
Can Hubby go with you ? I would not like doing it alone but I had major surgery in Atlanta GA due to illness while traveling and it was lonesome but fine!! I am sure you will do fine and will be glad you did it but then where do you get surgical followup and nutrition appts etc.? I know our Bariatric Center we have a 2 week post op appt with doc and with a nutritionist, then I think it is every month for a while and see the doc a few times over the first year post op so wonder how you will be doing the same thing if done in Mexico?
