Hello group! This is my first time posting on here. Although I am new on here I am not new to weight-loss surgery. In 2010 I had an RYN gastric bypass. Initially it went well. I started at 314 and went as low as 260. I maintained 260 to 270 Until this last year. Call it what it maybe- I can blame it on age, hormones, stressors, or lack of motivation My surgery was not as successful as I’d hoped. So here I am again… My surgeon has offered to to referral for me to have a revision . Well I am excited I also feel it too. So I ask for some support to switch it up and get re-motivated with enthusiasm.

Welcome to the group! I had lapband surgery many years ago and after gaining almost all the weight back I had a revision to a sleeve. I find the biggest advantage this time besides having a new tool is that I am working hard on the inside as well as the outside. I am committed to doing self improvement and self awareness in my weight loss journey. I am surrounding myself with daily support and finding ways to nurture personal growth. Second chances are a wonderful thing. I am excited for you and wish you all the best!

Hello and welcome to the group. Many people had issues this past year trying to lose or even maintain their weight. The isolation and stress have had a huge impact on society in general, so it's natural that those of us with weight issues to begin with have had a harder time maintaining. I do have a question: I have heard of a revision from band/sleeve to RNY, but what do they do to revise a RYN?

Thankyou reminding me of second chances. The inside me definitely deserves attention! Maybe it’s idea that I will be 50; I have to take care of me❤️

I don’t know what the typical revision for RNY but my surgeon has suggested a Duodenal Switch.

Welcome here is a place for support at your own pace. That is one of the best things about this site. I have found so much useful information here. The people are great and some really do a lot of research to help us understand What we are going through. And best of all it is not dr speak it is in everyday words that make sense.

My psych evaluation for my revision is this Friday. I’m not nervous since I have met with this psychologist on various occasions. However it did implant the realization that the possibility for a revision is closer. I’m sort of excited but also afraid of other people’s reactions. I guess it feels like I have not achieved my goals set with my previous surgery. To me, it’s worth the risks to have a revision but to some friends and family members the risks and failure of the first surgery outweigh another attempt. I think this will be one of my greatest challenges; letting go of other’s opinions. My insurance sent a letter saying they needed true psych evaluation to determine if they will cover the cost. So here’s to positive thinking and changes for the future

Unless it is close family members or friends, don't tell them. It is your decision and I'm sure you thought this over very carefully. Then if you want to tell them at a later date, you can. Telling people before surgery that may not be supportive could just give you unwanted pre-surgery stress. You don't need that! I will send tons of positive vibes your way!
