Hi, I am Lucy and I love nature, philosophy, justice for oppressed and hurt people and try to live thoughtfully with love and kindness for all beings, although I admit I sometimes have trouble feeling that way for certain humans. Born in SoCal, I have lived in Oregon since 1995 so I feel like an Oregon native. I am a blend of intellectual pursuits and spiritual and sometimes esoteric practices - so a somewhat intelligent hippie. I have battled with weight and eating issues since childhood. My first diet was at age 11, and by age 14 I started dieting almost constantly. I have had success with restricted calories and exercise, but it never lasts. I have gone through several extended periods of inactivity due to multiple foot surgeries within a 6 year span. My highest weight was 341 in November 2025 and in December I was diagnosed with acute heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. At this point my cardiologists and other doctors all advised gastric bypass. I need to lose a lot of weight quickly to have certain procedures, and need to keep it off to preserve life quality and length. So later this month (Feb 2026) I will undergo surgery. I have been working with a therapist to deal with childhood traumas, and I know I have a lot of work to do to change my relationship with food. I am motivated, and a bit overwhelmed with all the changes and possible risks as well. I am looking forward to participating in this community as we support one another.
