New Here- Surgery Done 9 Years Ago- Rogue Staple

Hi All!! I am new here to the forum and was hoping to see if I could find anyone else that may have similar circumstances or knows someone...
I had by gastric bypass done 9 years ago so it has been awhile for me compared to others out there. Just a brief background on me...I just turned 40 this year and I have actually done very well with it...originally lost about 165 lbs. After I had the surgery though I ended up becoming pregnant twice. The last of those pregnancies were twins. Through both pregnancies and after I ended up gaining back about 40 lbs which in the scheme of things is not too bad. Fast forward a few years (my kids are now 7 and 5) and I started having burning pain in my stomach. Not all the time but enough to not be comfortable. I take Omeprazole (Prilosec) every day but even that does not help some days. I also ended up having other female issue which resulted in a complete hysterectomy (Done laparoscopic). When the doctor went in to do that surgery the first thing that he did was take pictures and the very first picture he took was of a staple that was pretty much just laying in my stomach. He thinks that it is from my gastric bypass as he had not even done anything yet on my surgery. So I am wondering if this is part of my problem, but also if a staple has fallen out then is there other problems with the stomach that I don't know about. I've tried looking for information of others that have had this happen but kind of an odd thing I guess. In the process of trying to get into a bariatric doctor as unfortunately the doctor that originally did my surgery does not take my insurance. (Kaiser)

Thanks!!

WELCOME to the Forum!!!

OMGoodness!!! You may be lucky your bariatric surgeon doesn't take your insurance if his staples are falling out in your stomach. No wonder you needed Prilosec! Whatever surgeon you are planning on seeing, make sure he is a Bariatric Surgeon of Excellence and read reviews online about what his patients think of him.

Good luck to you!!!
