New here

So new to the site and thought I’d join for support and information. My surgery is scheduled for end of December but no exact date until closer to the actual date of. I changed surgeons, was not really happy with the last one, I did not feel he was preparing me enough for the changes. My new surgeon has me meeting with a nutritionists already and working on a healthier lifestyle and diet already. Boy has it been hard kicking the soda habit as well as junk foods. I have 155 lbs to lose.

Hi Lorrie,

Welcome to the group. I had my RNY surgery just 11 days ago.

I'm glad you went with your gut and changed doctors early in the process, finding one you trust and feel comfortable with. This is a huge decision and it is important that you have confidence in your bariatric team.

I met with my nutritionist right away. When she said no more soda for the rest of my life, I said "WHAT"? I am one of those people who just love carbonated drinks. I have a SodaStream that carbonates my water for me at home. Whenever I went out, I'd stop and get Coke Zero with crushed ice, because that's the best way to drink soda, right? Oh well, add a dozen or so years to my life or get used to not having soda and no fizz in my water. It was a really tough choice but I gave up the soda and fizz.

Best of luck on your new journey. I'm glad you found us. I hope you find us as helpful as I found the group to be.
