Hello All,

I am just starting on this journey.. and realize it will be HARD! Probably the hardest thing I will ever do in my life, but so well worth it.
I am thinking surgery will happen in April. Is there anyone on here that is 3-4 years post-op with the sleeve, and can you comment on how it affects your everyday life? Ie. things like going out to eat with friends, how you manage to keep the same eating habits? And for anyone, can you comment on how you overcome the people in your life that don't think surgery is a great idea? My parents will support me with whatever decision I make, but really don't feel like surgery is the best option. Which really makes me sad.

Thanks for the input!

Hi Josie! WELCOME to the Forum!!!

You will find a great deal of info on the past posts on this forum which may help you out about the sleeve surgery.

Parents are going to be nervous about surgery because there is always a risk in any surgery. The risk is very minimal with laparoscopic surgery which most surgeons use today. Just be sure and check that your doctor is a Bariatric Surgeon of Excellence and the Hospital is a Bariatric Hospital of Excellence. Plus I checked out my surgeon on-line and read his reviews from his patients and 100% of his patients recommended him. After checking more into it I found out he had performed over 2000 bariatric surgeries and never lost a single patient. I had thought about this surgery for years but didn't do it because I was nervous about it, but after finding this doctor I never looked back and I had a life changing experience. My health was deteriorating. This doctor saved my life and now I am so much healthier and happier than I can say! I still have more weight to lose but I feel like a normal person now. Life is GREAT!!!

Again, do your homework on your doctor and hospital, this info should help your parents feel better about the surgery. Follow your surgeon's instructions to the letter, after surgery eat small amounts at a time so you don't overstretch your new size tummy. (You will feel full with small amounts because your tummy will be tiny) and you will be successful and lose weight.

Good Luck!!!
