Hello: I am embarking on the sleeve in January, 2020...it’s been about 3 years in the decision process, but over the past year, with my wife being pregnant, I have gained 57 pounds...yikes. It’s time. I want to be here for my family. I am 52 and can barely put on my socks or walk up the two flights of stairs in my new home. I have sleep apnea...and wear elastic waistband pants to work. It’s just time. I have a list of questions 4 miles long...I will read some posts then ask my questions!

Welcome, Tiberius! You’ll find a lot of excellent information on this site. It’s also a good venue to vent how you feel on a daily basis. Especially with you becoming a new father, you’ll need your energy for that little one. I hope your wife is ready for a new baby and a husband going through a new process of his own. Support from loved ones is very important to keep you positive through the insurance requirements of surgical weightloss. I am 50, and I recently had the Roux-en-y procedure and am healing. My fiancée has been great with taking care of me and the house. My kids are grown but live near, and I love that I can see them every day. I think your decision to have a better, healthier you will make you a better father. Your future outlook will be contagious and you’ll enjoy every minute spent with your wife and new baby. If you have other children I promise they will root for you, too.
Welcome to this site! Glad to have you!

Thank you! Yes, this is big decision but I am onboard. Currently trying to find a support group for me and my wife to attend. She is a very thin, fit runner and doesn’t understand the challenges of an obese person. She wants too, but it is challenging. She is judgemental, she married me overweight and actually loves “Bears” but also wants me healthy (she wants at least two kids!!). So, that Is my current challenge. I also need to LOSE some weight prior to surgery...but instead the scale is going the other way...
