Hello,

I am new to this site. I am 6 months post surgery and having problems with food...wanting to eat everything in site! Thought I had been away from sugar long enough to not want it but gave in and ate cookies! Now I am so disappointed in myself and disgusted! I still have 40 lbs to lose and am now feeling like such a complete failure. Don't know what to do. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated!

Welcome evergreen9, my name is Tom.
First thing is don't beat yourself up for eating some cookies, as long as you have a good exersice program and are eating enough protien and drinking lots of water/fluids (surgar free no soda) it shouldn't be a set back. Sounds like dumping syndrom is not a problem for you when it comes to sweets so remember to be careful when around the sweets, a cookie is about 250 calories. You have been doing a great job, you have lost 60 lbs in 6 months that's wonderful, so remember that:)! The holidays are hard to avoid all the treats, it may sound crazy but I have been baking cookies and cinomon rolls and giving plates to my family this time of year, I enjoy the smell and treat my self to one cookie a day with a cup of coffee, I cant eat the rolls, bread really makes me sick, although I can tolorate a very small piece. That may not work for you, so when treats are all around us limit the sweets and if you do have a few to many treats, increse your work out and drink extra water. The surgery is just one of tools we have to get us to our goal weight and to help us get and stay healthy. Good luck, the Holidays will be over soon and all the sweets will begin to dwindel. Tom
