Welcome to the group :) Congrats on your journey! Best advice I've read and can think of is to remember that while there are hundreds of thousands of people who have gone through weight loss surgery, each case is unique and what you experience will be uniquely yours. Because all of us go into surgery with a different race, gender, health background, pain tolerance and body chemistry, we each come out of surgery with different experiences and side effects. I hope you don't have any, but I haven't met anyone who has sailed through the whole thing with no issues. Be prepared mentally for speed bumps along your recovery. You can overcome them all if you stay positive and work through them and don't allow the frustration to cause you stress. I hope you have someone in your life that is going to be able to support you through your surgery. It's priceless to have someone that can help or just keep your spirits up while you adjust to your new lifestyle. With your lifestyle change, I support removing anything and anyone negative in your life, you don't need anything that will bring you down as you explore the new you! If you hear someone say 'that's the easy way out' just smile, because that is jealousy talking and for those of us who have had the surgery, we are all VERY aware that there is absolutely NOTHING easy about weight loss surgery. Feel free to come here often, ask questions, vent, complain, encourage, whatever! this is an amazing group of people who have been through it and just openly want to help others with their experience. Best wishes on your final surgery date!

I agree with Pixx, "Be prepared mentally for speed bumps along your recovery. You can overcome them all if you stay positive and work through them and don't allow the frustration to cause you stress. I hope you have someone in your life that is going to be able to support you through your surgery. It's priceless to have someone that can help or just keep your spirits up while you adjust to your new lifestyle." If not... I am here ...... I wish I knew about this group when I got started almost 4 years ago. Be encouraged.

Thank you for replying. Right now I am in a holding pattern waiting for my insurance to give their final approval. It's frustrating, but I know it will be well worth it. I am going to begin attending a Bariatric support group next week, my husband has been wonderful throughout the process and my daughter is a nurse so I hope I have t at part covered. Know it won't be easy but am so ready for it to begin.
