Hello, I just had my sleeve done on 12/15 along with a hiatal hernia repair. A week out and I am feeling much better. I’m not as sore- I can cough and sneeze without feeling like I’m going to die. I’ve been sticking with the 1 oz of water every 12-15 min, but I’m scared of sipping faster than that. Other than that my family has been super supportive. I have to remind my husband that I won’t break. And I am so excited for this new chapter that I am doing just for me.

Welcome to our group and congratulations on your surgery. Glad you are feeling better and in another week you will be even better than today! And before you know it you will be searching for smaller clothes! Feel free to ask questions or voice concerns. We have a great group here.

You can probably increase your water sipping at this point. Just increase gradually and see how you feel. Liquids don't stay in your new stomach for very long, so unless you are guzzling several ozs at once, it's probably not going to be a problem. Start slow, sip a bit more and monitor how you feel, then sip a bit more. Hydration is incredibly important, and doing 1oz every 15 minutes doesn't always get you to where you need to be.

Don't go all out, of course, just experiment. You'll definitely know if you sip too much, and then you can just back off a bit. Over time, your new stomac will naturally relax and you'll be able to drink and eat more comfortably while still maintaining a calorie deficit and getting adequate nutrition.

Cheers!
