I could only have liquids for the first 2 weeks post op, and that did not include yogurt, but every plan is different so follow yours doctors orders directly or you could end up doing damage. There will be a lot of temptation along the way, but for the betterment of your new stomach and your safety, follow the guidelines. I used measuring as my tool. I couldn’t feel much in the beginning, so I measured everything I ate. When I moved to soft foods like yogurt, I would measure out a tablespoon. If that went down ok, I would have a little more later. I think of it like this, you can go back for more, but taking it back is going to be a problem.

Were you given a post surgery diet? If so does it have different stages such as clear liquids, full liquids, pureed, soft and solid? As tempting as it is, please follow the guidelines as you wouldn't want to do any harm to your newly operated on stomach which needs to do some healing.

It is hard to tell when you are full at first and it will take a little learning experience. Best to go slow. It will be hard to get in the water and protein requirements at first but you will get there. I think almost all of us have learned the hard way to to push in that extra bite as it can lead to discomfort. I'm sure you will figure it out.

HI, Judygirl! Welcome to the group. Glad to hear you are feeling well. Your program should have given you a post-op food plan with not only the type of diet you should be following but suggested amounts. Not everyone can eat the entire amount, but it's a good starting point. If they did not, let us know and we'll share ours to give you an idea of what and how much you should be eating. Especially at the beginning, you may only be able to eat a teaspoon or two at a time and it may fluctuate from day to day. Also it's important to not eat too quickly. Sometimes that can be the cause of your pain as well. My program gave me a recipe for "Pureed Grilled Cheese" (?!?!) so I doubt the bread will hurt you. However, it doesn't really have a lot of nutritional value. With the small amounts that you can handle, you should try to stick to really high protein foods for the first 6 weeks.

yes they did I'm on liquids and soft mushy foods I just couldn't resist alittle taste of bread which is not on the list
