Hi. I'm a 54 year old woman living in Memphis, Tennessee with my hubby of 10 years and 3 furbabies. I'm 5'1.5" and currently weigh 230lbs. I had an RNY gastric bypass in LA in August, 2004. Over 18 months, I lost 113 pounds. Unfortunately, I was not in a stable situation. Eight months after my surgery, I moved back to my hometown of Jacksonville, FL. Four months after that, I reached my lowest weight of 147lbs. One month later my fiance woke up on a Tuesday morning, told me he didn't love me, and walked out of our bedroom. Not long thereafter, he packed up all of our stuff, everything except my clothes and a couple of dressers, and left for another state with another woman, leaving me stranded and homeless. With the help of a few friends, I was able to get out of there and move in with family in Memphis. My weight had gone up to 155lbs at that point. Five months after moving to Memphis, I moved to northwest England to live with my boyfriend. whom I had met online. One month after moving in with him, he cheated on me. As I had nowhere else to go, and my return flight wasn't scheduled until April, I had no choice but to continue to live with him, basically hating me, until then. I gained another 10 pounds. I returned to Memphis, broken and seriously depressed. So depressed that I tried to exit the planet. Ironically, it was my gastric bypass that had saved my life due to the malabsorptive effect of the surgery. Fast forward 19 years and I'm still living in Memphis and am in a much more stable place, emotionally, psychologically, and physically. Unfortunately, over the years, I have gained back a total of 83 pounds. I have an appointment with the local bariatric surgeon scheduled for May 14th. I'm hoping to have revision surgery. I've been - perhaps obsessively - researching the revision process, including the procedure itself, insurance hurdles, and what my plan is for post revision. This time I believe will be much different because I'm in a stable living situation and am stable emotionally, having been on the proper med regime for the past 6 years. I'll actually be able to attend follow-up appointments with my surgeon, I am joining a gym that is literally right across the street from me with a friend of mine, I won't be moving around from place to place, and this time I have an actual support system of friends and family to help me through the process from getting approved for surgery to post-op and beyond. My goal weight is 125lbs but I'll be thrilled if I can get to and maintain 145lbs. If I lose more than that, great. If not, that's ok.

I'm looking for someone to talk to about all of this that has either had the surgery, is pre-op, or is having or has had a revision. My support system is great, but I'd like someone to talk to who's going through a similar situation or at least knows what it's like to be a wls patient/warrior.

Sorry this is a duplicate post. I'm not that tech savvy and accidentally posted to the thread twice. OOPS!

open a blank post, as if you want to write in it. Write something, then send it. When the post crosses the line above it and it's been sent as a reply, you'll see this:

It's right above the bottom of the post window, across from the "Reply" arrow. Really, you can't miss it. Test it by replying to my post right now.
