Hi! I’m Rachel and new to the group! I had my gastric bypass may of 2015. Since then i had initially lost almost 100 lbs. felt great and was doing very well! Had very minimal issues throughout the whole process. I had a baby in 2018 and now to date have put on about 20lbs and do not feel good about myself and my appearance at all right now! I’m hoping to get some advice/help from anyone who is a few years out and put on some weight and how you went about getting back on track and getting the weight back off! Thank you and I hope everyone is staying safe at this crazy time!!

I'm only 3 months out, but I suggest tracking everything on an app like Sparkpeople or My Fitness Pal. Then you can see what you are actually doing and use that data for planning.

Welcome to the group. You can research topics on the site. There's lots of wisdom here.

I am a few years out from my original surgery in 2013 (it has been a process from lapband to sleeve to bypass)... I had some complications that led to some regain along the way, and it is definitely disheartening. I have lost 163 pounds now, and my last surgery was in August of 2019. Tracking and getting back to the basics of the plan are really the best way to get back on track. And getting a full physical, blood work, etc., just to be sure that there is nothing going on that could be contributing to the gain unintentionally. It is a simple answer, but not always easy. Good luck on your journey - you will find a lot of great people on here!

So are do you feel like you have mire of an appetite now then the first year or so?
I still can’t eat large portions and there are still things I absolutely can’t eat but there are other things i couldn’t such as sweeter things that don’t bother me now and I wish they still did! I’m more of a picker/snacker than sitting down and eating meals and i know that’s a big problem!

Thank you! I definitely need to start tracking again. I also read something saying that you can reset your pouch by going back to the straight liquids like after surgery. Have you ever seen anything on that? I’m wondering if that would help me out!

I've seen one surgeon say that there is no pouch reset; others say yes. Don't know.

I was thinking the same thing I believe once it stretches out it's not the same we have the advantage of loosing the weight then most.
I will not put myself thru revision I had a blockage and almost died I totally afraid and my lungs were pictured in the course of the Surgery

Yes I’m taking it back to the basics as well! Also tracking everything i think is so helpful and i got away from that and i think it hindered me as well! So I’m def back to tracking everything and hoping these few things will have me back on track and getting some weight off!

I just had a revision surgery from VSG to RNY for bile reflux issues. When I initially had the VSG I maintained my weight loss for almost 4 years, with one episode of regain. I had regained 20 lbs and what had happened was I had turned to snacking without realizing it. Every Bariatric group is different so this is what I followed per my RD's guidance. I ate 3 meals a day and fasted in between meals. I did not track calories but I ate protein first followed by everything else. I went back to waiting an hour to drink my fluids post meals as well. I had gotten out of the habit of doing that. The weight came right off. Snacking, grazing, testing out food while cooking all adds up. I didn't realize how much until I was doing it. Hope that helps, just know you can totally lose what you regained. Give yourself some time.
