I’m new here. Just got started with a surgical weight loss program at a hospital local to me. Excited to be a part of this for any help and support. I haven’t met with the surgeon so I don’t have a date yet or know which type of surgery I’ll have.

Hello Derrick and welcome! What a great idea to immediately get involved with a support group. I really liked my program, but still sometimes found them to be a little generic with information. You've picked a great group Good luck.

Welcome! When I started I hadn’t met surgeon or decided which surgery I wanted either. My process was seeing the dietitian the first month, counselor the next month, and the surgeon and dietitian the third month. Covid kind of detailed that and delayed somethings, but now I’m almost 7 months post op and not regretting a day! Ask us anything! We’re all here to support each other!

Weight loss surgery is a big decision. It is not an easy path. It is a journey. This is a great place to ask questions, to get support. This week I had a phone appt with the bariatric dr from the VA. I shared with him how much information and support I have received from this site and the members. I even kinda begged him to join and give support or even give an article for success re after surgery. When we first spoke he flooded me with information. I wish that I had recorded that call. A major focus was maintaining contact with the bariatric team and annual follow after the first year. I told him I love this site because the people are supportive. But even better you don’t have to wait or travel to get to it. It is there for you everyday. May your journey be a success.
