I am here to try to help people through my 30 years of training and nutrition experience. I have a good friend who is a member here and is working towards her goal. Together we can all accomplish great things.

Hi Alan, great to have you on board, there are many folks here that can't get to a support group meeting because they are to far away, I look forward to hearing your advice, I am one of the lucky ones, I have a great facilitated support group that is held in three different times of the month and one meeting is right here in my town weather permiting in the winter of course. It would be great to hear some of your background and areas of expertice. Tom

Thanks, Tom. Actually I'm not a "certified expert". But we all know some of those certifications are given out just after taking a 2 hour seminar.
I have helped quite a few people over the years lose weight.
My biggest thing is trying to get people to believe in weight training. Muscle is metabolically active. So it increases your resting metabolism. Lots of people have trouble grasping that.

Hi Alan, I guess I'm living proof re: your comment about muscle and metabolism. I have done weight training for more than 5 years and have increased my metabolic rate to the same as a person 20 years younger than me. Welcome to the forum.

Well take one of those seminars and I guess until then you are just and expert:p I agree weight training is a very impotant part of weight loss and goes hand in hand with cardio training and proper eating habits and muscle burns calories more efficiantly so it all works out great if we can find a good balance between them all, I don't care much for weight training so that is where I am lacking:eek: Lately I have been doing a lot of walking and some pull up evry day but I need to get back into running, pushups and situps/crunches. Tom

I find the easiet way to increase my heart rate is to look at my checking account balance after paying my bills *LOL*
