Hello all,
My name is Lala, I had the VSG done on 10/30. For the most part, so far so good despite the uncomfortable pain when swallowing fluids down. My procedure went well, although I had complications in the recovery room. Immediately after waking me up, I was in soooo much pain and really nauseous. Of course they knocked me back out with morphine and gave me the patch behind my ear. I ended up in the recovery room for 6 hrs. Once awake again I was much better.
Anyways, I’m glad I have stumbled across this group. Any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Lala, welcome! So you just had your surgery! Each day you will feel better and better, so hang in there. I had mine in June and quite frankly don't remember the recovery room at all and next thing I knew I was in my room. Best suggestion I can give is to stick to your eating schedule that the doctor gave you and if you have any concerns at all don't be afraid to contact your bariatric team. Looking forward to getting to know you along this journey!

Welcome! I had the bypass on the 26th, and waking up from recovery was difficult for me as well. How’s everything else going?
Congratulations!!! All else is as expected. I’m so over this clear diet. Tomorrow I move onto the protein shakes, yogurt, pudding etc. I’m looking forward to that for now. I tried the lentil soup blended n strained but that made me sooo nauseous. Other than that, I’m taking it day by day. Went for my 1st outdoor walk today, it felt good but I think I kinda over did it. My husband said “no more” smh
But all is well... thanks for asking.

Hi there Tracey.... Nice to meet you! Thanks for all your kind word and advice. I have been skimming through and I am getting tons of information.
Now as for today, it wasn’t so good. I went out to the supermarket, not that I had to but bc I wanted to get some steps in. I was already a bit lethargic b4 getting there. After a few isles I felt faint. I left immediately. Sat in my car for a bit, then drove home(3 mins away).
I go for my post op appointment tomorrow, I’ll probably get an iron infusion. I’m anemic.

After my first time out to the store, spent about 5 minutes in there, I slept for 2 hours. I couldn’t believe how much it wore me out!

Congrats on getting through surgery and I hope things are continuing to get better.

As far as tips go, I would just say be patient for change. You body is going through a significant adjustment. There will be ups and downs, weight stalls and weight drops. Everything you experience will be unique to you, and as long as you far following your program instructions and making good food, hydration and exercise choices, you will reach your ultimate goals. At times it may seem like nothing is going as planned, but good things will be happening in your body all the time on this journey.

When you feel frustration, reach out to this group or others. There is a wide range of experience on this forum and many people who are willing to share.

Best wishes for your journey!

Thank you for the kind welcome! This group is soooo helpful. Questions that I had are mostly answered from just scrolling through different threads here! #Awesomesauce
I’m on the full liquid/puréed stage now.... trying different but healthy food to purée. So far so good.
My surgeon n his team are pretty flex when it comes to the “stages”... after completing a full week on full liquid that is. I’m hitting week 2. Who has food suggestions??

Congrats and welcome! I'm almost 18 years out of surgery, and I can tell you it's the best decision I've ever made. I wish you the best of luck...follow your protocols, reach out for help when you need it, and most of all...enjoy the journey to the newer version of you!

I pureed carrots and lentils after cooking them in the crockpot until they were soft. I really enjoy it. I hate cottage cheese, even tried them again for this stage, but I just can’t do it. I’m going to make a pureed mushroom soup tomorrow.
