Hello,
Just signed up & have already read a bunch of great info! 10 days post op & doing well. They only thing is the random cravings! Anyone else have this issue? Any tricks to help?

Thanks

Hi. I'm glad to hear you're doing well. :)
I know that certain food cravings can indicate a nutritional deficiency. Are you taking a multivitamin yet?
Other than that, I've read a lot on here about carb cravings. I personally crave berries, but am not allowed raw fruits and veg yet.

Started my vitamins the day I got back from the hospital. I'm pretty sure it's all mental!

Hi! I'm new to the group as well, but have read so much helpful information and felt the support from this group. I haven't had surgery yet, hopefully in a couple of months but I'm really excited to get my new life started. Hope to see you around often!

WELCOME Bre!!!

What type cravings are you having? 10 days post op and you are still on liquids? If you're craving sweets thats easy. Sugar free jello, sugar free pudding, light yogurt, sugar free popsicles and protein shakes with crystal light flavorings in it.

Remember that food is fuel and not to be used for emotional comfort. Don't stretch out your new tiny tummy, eat small amounts at a time. Good Luck!!! :)

Right, cravings!

The new you will have to come to understand that food is fuel and nothing more. You need fuel but not too much.

Cravings are probably more mental than anything. I will not deny myself a little taste of something I like. However, I make sure it is budgeted into my 1200 calorie limit per day. I also make sure that I have all my protein. Protein should help reduce/eliminate your cravings.

Last night I did enjoy a little ice cream (1/4 cup) with company and a bite of the pastry. I marked it all down in my journal. I ended up at 1262 calories for the day; slightly over the 1200. I am typically around 1000 calories.
