Newly Sleeved day 5

Hello all. I found this group yesterday because I wanted to be in touch with others going through what I am. I have read some things that have really helped me so far. With sleeping, gas questions, etc.. The best advice I read was adding a scoop of protein power to my pre-made protein drink to get double the protein. That was GENIUS! Because yesterday was my first day finishing just one bottle, but it was like drinking 2 . Definitely helped with the headaches.
I am just grateful for this group and I look forward to helping others with my experience.

So glad you found us, and thanks for the reminder about doubling the protein amt by adding a scoop of protein powder to a protein. That starts tomorrow for me. Good job & good luck! Please try to remember to sip sip sip water all day, and walk when possible at whatever pace works for you.

Thank you! It's been up and down. Headaches and feeling weird..spacey...but I know thats because I wasn't getting enough protein and liquid. Like I said the double protein helped and so has sugar free popsicles. How long will the stomach world wind pain last?
Is it stomach pain or abdominal pain? And then it kind of depends which isn’t the fun answer, but since everyone is different is probably the most common. My pain wasn’t bad, but apparently my surgeon gives extra shots of lidocaine around each incision site which some don’t do. It helps the nerve pain for the first few days. I didn’t have much stomach pain itself. I had my gallbladder out at the same time, so that’s the discomfort I felt. The abdominal binder helped a lot with the muscle pain.

I started walking in the hospital. Walk as much as you can, you will heal faster and feel better. You don't have to walk far, as much as you can, as often as you can.
Yes, I started walking in the hospital too...I would walk the floor each time I got up.
The last 3 days I have been walking about 25 to 30 minutes. I am proud of myself, I have to just keep talking to myself telling myself that I am doing this to change my life and then I keep going

Ok, I will have to look into that abdominal binder I keep seeing people talk about it. Thank you

Hello and welcome to the group. Glad to see that you're doing well. I had actually never seen the double protein (scoop and premade drink) tip before!! I will have to pass that along to my husband, who will be having the sleeve early next year. That IS a great tip.

Glad to help. Someone told me not to drink this much protein in one sitting that your body can only absorb 30grams per meal at this point. But it still works for me because I cannot drink 1 whole protein drink in one sitting anyway. Not to that point yet. Which your husband won't either in the beginning, but something to keep in mind once he gets to the point that he can. I mentioned it to my nurse and she didn't say anything bad about it. But on my two week follow up I am going to mention it to my doctor to confirm.

I just started adding vanilla muscle milk protein powder to my protein shake. I am splitting the shake in half, with 1/2 scoop of powder with each half. I am getting 25g protein two times daily (morning & afternoon snack) several hours apart to get maximum absorption of a total of 50g protein daily. It is so filling and not bad tasting mixing my chocolate or caramel shakes with the vanilla powder. Until I'm consistently getting enough protein with my regular foods, this seems to be working well for me.

My nutritionist told me that our bodies could not absorb more than 30 g of protein in one sitting. She advised me not to consume more than 30 g of protein in any meal, as it would just add calories and not contribute to protein.
