Hello all-
I need input from all who have gone before me. I am 14.5 months post sleeve surgery. I have lost 103 lbs. I have gotten to the point where I am teetering in weight between 167 and 171. My doctor said that I have exceeded expectations for my age-67. I want to zone in on a maintenance weight and learn how to keep it there. How to I calculate my ideal calories and macros? I am past the honeymoon phase; the place where carbs start to taste good again.
I am drinking 70 oz of water. I get 80g of protein, 60g of carbs and 50g of fat and a total of 1200 calories per day. How do I level off to a desired maintenance weight? Today I am at 167. The doctor was happy at 177. My desired goal was 165, but I think my body is telling me something different. What has been your experience?

Hey Tex and congratulations!!! My surgery was March 11th so we must have been within a couple weeks of each other. Have you spoken with your nutritionist? That's where I'm hoping to get this info from. I had my 1 year follow up with my surgeon by phone because of the virus & I haven't called back to schedule with my nutritionist again yet.

I thought I was at my lowest in January at 165. Then my plastic surgeon took off 10.2 pounds of skin and I've since lost another 7.4. I hope to stay within 5 pounds either way at this point. But I'm definitely out of the honeymoon phase too. I can eat just about anything, it just portion size keeping me in check. So I need to be sure I'm keeping in touch with my nutritionist.

You've done so great!

Way to go Tex! Congrats on all of your hard work. I agree with Brenda that you should talk with your nutritionist about it. Based on your activity levels, she can tell you if you need more or less protein and the amount of calories you should be consuming. I'm still trying to wrap my head around consuming 120g of protein or more a day which is what my nutritionist recommend at my six month follow up. It all has to do with your activity level and what is going to work best for your body.

Thank you for your comments, Brenda. I'd love to do the plastic surgery but I'd rather not try it since I have a tendency to attract infections and that's a lot of cutting and sewing. I have an appointment with the Bariatric clinic Tuesday, June 2. I'm hoping to get everything figured out then! Sticking to it will be the trick.
