Post surgery hunger?

Hi all :) 3 days post VSG!
I got home late last night, and it was so good to be in my own bed. I'm feeling hungry this morning though, which the doctor said I really shouldn't be for a while, so it must just be phantom hunger or something? That's distressing me a little bit. What are your experiences with hunger after surgery? I was hoping for a longer honeymoon period of not wanting anything.
Otherwise I'm doing pretty well, getting in about half the fluids goal so far and working up to more. I am also very sensitive to smells right now too, we passed an Auntie Ann's pretzels when I was walking the mall to get moving and I thought I might gag- I used to love Auntie Ann's so I'm not too sad about that temptation being shut down! I'm going to try some broth this morning and go for half a protein shake over the course of the day if I can manage it. They repaired a hiatal hernia on me as well so my stomach opening is really tight right now so everything takes a minute to make it into my new little stomach. The dr said that should relax a little as it heals. Also I'm trying to get used to visualizing how much my stomach will hold... trial and error a bit there.
They sent me my surgery photos which I found super fascinating! I now know myself inside and out! Lol

I had hunger feelings and still do regularly. I get hungry about every 2.5 hours even though we are only supposed to eat every 3 hours. I was disappointed with this because I don't like feeling hungry!

I really hope it passes. I was hungry all the time on any diet which made it hard to stay on track

Hey TW, I'm glad you're home and settling in. It's so hard to get comfortable and heal in a hospital! That's really cool you got some surgery photos. I wish all surgeons did that.

I didn't feel hungry after surgery but still had the instinct and desire to eat. Hopefully as you make your way through the stages, and move on to soft/pureed foods, that makes you feel fuller longer.
