Psych sessions

I only needed one for eval. I was told its to discover any hidden issues (eating disorders or mental blocks) that might impede your success. Any disorder needs to be addressed before surgery.

Psychological issues with food don't go away because you had surgery. Most of us have had to change our relationship with food post op. But some have more serious issues, and that's what they're checking for. To make sure you have the support you need to succeed in this.

I have often wished that they had post op bariatric counseling. Instead, I found you guys!! lol

I was required to have two visits prior to surgery. The first involved extensive testing on a computer and an interview to identify any disorders. The second was to review those results and to give me strategies to help during the process of surgery/weight loss. I was told I would have another visit scheduled a couple months post surgery to see how I’m doing (I’m scheduled for surgery on Wednesday). These were all requirements of my program. It was required that the psychologist sign off that I was appropriate for surgery, so if I needed more visits, they would require that before signing off.

I only had one and in my opinion it was worthless. They asked about a support system (which I really don't have. I have me and when I set my mind to something I do it), they asked me about my relationship with food (I'm fat what do they expect), they asked me a ton of questions my surgery team asked. They charged me 150$ for twenty minutes or so of questions.
