I have to do a 4week liquid diet that I will start aug15th was wonder what soups everyone used just trying the best solution is it possible to just buy soups in the grocery store or do I need to actually purchase the bariatric soups prior to surgery

Hi Rayofsunshine! Welcome to the group! Mammabearof4 has a list of food you will need. Look under her name in the pre-op post section. That's great you are scheduled! Dianeseattle is our go to gal for info and she will check in with you I'm sure!
I'm excited that I meet with my surgeon next month! Time flies by so hang in there. Lots of good advice here with our ladies and gents!

Hi Sunshine, welcome to the group. We are sponsored by a bariatric food business, but I have never bought a single thing that had bariatric in the title from anyone in 12 years.

It seems weird that you have to be on a liquid diet for 4 weeks before surgery? Back when I had my surgery, in my last pre-op appointment, the surgeon just mentioned that I should try to lose some weight before the surgery, which was scheduled for about 3 weeks from that date. He also told me that I should practice chewing my food a minimum of 35 times per bite, which I actually took more seriously than the suggestion I should lose weight.

Even after surgery, I seem to remember my liquid diet phase as being two weeks or less, and then there was a shift from clear liquids to thicker liquids that contain some solid food like vegetable soup.

Did anyone else have to be on a liquid diet for 4 weeks pre-op? I don't think I could have ever done that, nor could I do it now.
I am on a 4 week liquid diet due to my bmi weight starting at 490
