Hey y’all. 2 weeks post-op from VSG. Feeling really good and looking forward to the path ahead. Still learning how to deal with food noise and listening to my body. Excited to be part of this community.

Welcome to the group. I hope you can find some posts in the archive that relate to your struggles, but please ask any questions you might have and people will offer any answers they have.

Unfortunately for me, food noise is forever.
I deal with it by purposly changing my thinking. It used to be that I would see or think about a food and just obsess about it until I ate it. Once I thought about it I would have no peace until I binged on whatever I was thinking about. Then I would spend hours regretting my action.

It took time, but I’ve learned to pause and ask myself, “How am I going to feel after I eat this?” That simple shift has been a game changer and has really changed my relationship with food. I also don't deprive myself if I really want something because that can lead to me obsessively thinking about it. I just have a smaller serving and move on.

Food impacts me both physically and emotionally but now I am in control, not the food.
