Reconsidering surgery

I was thinking, did anyone have doubts before surgery. I have a hernia so I need to have surgery for that. But, this liquid diet has really helped me to lose weight. I am so surprised at the weight I have lost before surgery. Please vote and let me know what you would recommend.

No doubts here, I to had a hernia. a Hiatal hernia which they fixed during the surgery I had (lapBand). Depending on what type it is maybe they can fix yours to.

Yes, my doctor says he will fix my hernia when he does my surgery. I don't remember what kind of hernia it is. He said my stomach is pushed outside where it should be. I didn't know i had one until he ran some preliminary test.

A hernia is an easy fix. Mine was discovered before I dreamt of having gastric bypass. Anyway, I do not regret my decision to have surgery. I couldn't handle anymore of the protein shake diet. I can barely handle having one per day. Surgery was MY best option.

I think you should do it , the two weeks before and after are the worst. We have all lost weight and then gained it all back and then some, and you don't want to drink liquids forever, once you have the surgery and start eating more solid food, you will enjoy it more, you do have to chew alot but because of that you actually taste the food and appreciate it more

I made it thru the surgery thanks for helping with those last minute doubts. I think I was just scared. Even with having the hernia I recovered quickly. I was up walking around the next day. I walk around like I'm pregnant but once I'm up it doesn't hurt. It's just the going from standing to sitting. It's getting easier every day. A friend of mine went with me to get a new haircut for the start of a new life. It was a great outing.

I'm so glad you did it, we were all scared, worried about being in pain, and then after it was done, I wondered what the heck did I do, I can barely drink a glass of water, but it gets even better, it is nice to eat some eggs whites and a little ham and not. Be hungry makes me feel good

It took over a year for my insurance company to approve the surgery. I was having doubts after it was all approved and date was set. However, I am glad I did it. I feel a lot better, even just losing the 35 lbs. so far. I have arthritis in both knees, both hips, lower back. My knees don't bother me near as much. I was also very short of breath if I walked very far and would have to stop and rest for a few min. I still get a little short of breath but I am noticing I can walk further before it happens. I'm sure soon I won't have that problem any longer. I haven't had any pain from the surgery, since the day after surgery. I was expecting a lot of pain for several weeks. Best decision I have made in a long time.
