Your surgeon is the best resource you have for that information. I'm very surprised they haven't guided you and made a determination already.
I was told that the Roux ended Y/bypass was better due to having diabetes and acid reflux. I am 4 years out, with the bypass, and my diabetes is still in remission. I have very little reflux. In most cases, it clears up reflux but I did have quite a bit of esophageal damage, so some things can still bother me.
Often hypertension is just due to the weight, so either surgery can help equally with that.
I would suggest doing some research on the rates of diabetic remission in both surgeries before making a final decision.
