Serious regain

Welcome Rocky! What do you think contributed most to your successful loss? What factors were there during your regain? Was there something that you were doing while you were losing that helped keep your mind focused on losing? I’m not even a year out from bypass, so I can’t help answer your question about losing after a regain, but I’d like to help support your process of figuring that out. Glad you found the group!

Hi Rocky, welcome to the group. I've had a bit of regain this past month and I'm going back to basics.

For me that is writing everything down that I eat/drink. I had been using an app and I think I will start using it again today. For me, writing is easier but there are bonuses to using an app.

Journaling also helps. Write down your feelings, what lead you to eat more that day, or what did you do that day that was successful? It can help in figuring out the puzzle.

I've gotten bad at my physical activity. Maybe it is the heat, but I'm having a harder time getting motivated. Again, working on that too. Sometimes baby steps helps move me in the right direction!

Important: stay involved in a support group, like this one. It really does help!

You've already taken the first step and perhaps you've done more. In any case, I wish you the very best. Feel free to post any stumbling blocks you may have and maybe we can throw some suggestions out to you. Good luck!

journaling is a wonderful idea … just hard for me to sit with my emotions

Hi, Rocky. Welcome to the group I am only a year out myself so I'm still maintaining. I'm sorry to hear you've gained most of your weight back. The positive thing is you still have that smaller stomach and you know exactly what you need to do to start losing the weight again. It will probably be a slower loss this time but you can find a new way to stay motivated. You are still down 50lbs 9 years later and that's nothing to sneeze at. Try to stay positive, accept where you are without beating yourself up about where you "should" or "could" be. I wish you the best of luck.

It is easy to fall into day to day life and not pay attention to stuff that doesn’t seem important at the time like documenting foods portions and things like that. You have found a good place where no one is judging you here. I know documenting is going to be lifelong for me. I am using the bariatric app. I sometimes have trouble with the journal part but I think I figured it out. It is handy and on my phone. It is on my iPad too so when I go see dietician we can look at reports. It is handy.
