Hello, i'm new to this had my rygastric bypass on aug.6,2012. I have done great. Only had 1 meal where i ate to fast and had discomfort and a little vomiting. So now i watch the clock so i dont eat to fast. I too was not sore after about 3 days still not off my insulin but was taken off my meformin the dr has lowered it and said by dec. I could be off all meds. Cant wait. I go back on the 6 of sept to see my doctor and weigh in for the 2nd time since i had my surgery. I had lost 12 lb the 1st week weigh in. Have not weighed at home want to wait till i see my doctor. Would love to chat with others who are on this journey also.

Sheila-Welcome to the forum. Looks like you are doing great!!! So far I was only taken off my metformin. I was hoping that I would be off some other meds by now but I guess I need to get closer to my goal weight before that happens. Keep up the good work :)

Hi Sheila, Welcome. Your doin fantastic, the reduction in meds will come with time, I didn't have diabetes but I did have high BP and cholesterol the BP meds I was off befor the first week was over and the cholesterol meds by a months time (i stopped taking them because I had to crush them and they tasted nasty:rolleyes:) all my blood work came back good at 3 months so I was happy:eek: I didn't weigh myself at home for the first 2 months then I bought a new scale and weighed every day, I don't recomend that:eek: now I weigh every saturday, (and sometimes wednesday). Tom

Sheila - I'm green with envy about now, because I don't see my psychologist and neutrionist (always spelled wrong) until next Wednesday. I also start my 6-week smoking cessation classes that same day. Once I see the two doctors Wednesday, it's my understanding that my paperwork will be submitted to Medicare for their approval. The doctors nurse says that things will start moving fast once the paperwork is submitted to Medicare. I hope that's true. There are still a lot of tests I have to take prior to the surgery, though. My lab work came back fine; I got the results on that today. This waiting is killing me, though. In the meantime, I'm finding that I want to snack more in the evening. Pat suggested starting a notebook with all my bariatric information in it. I've got the notebook and will put what little information I have, so far, in it this weekend. There's a clear sleeve on the front of the notebook, so I typed up a title for the notebook - Bariatrics - Not a diet; A new way of life. I wish you lots of luck on your journey and hope mine will begin soon.
