So much hair gone!

Girl, same. I mentioned I bought a messy bun extension and was wearing it everywhere. Super cute .. right up until the point that the hair loss became noticeable around my hairline when pulled back. Then it was time for another freak out. So, I went and got it cut. It's pretty short (chin length bob), but it looks a lot fuller. Also, I think the hair loss has slowed a bit, but that could just be because it's shorter it looks like less in the shower. I get all my protein, my vitamin levels are excellent and I use an anti-thinning shampoo so apparently, hair loss is just something that happens regardless. It's been about 6 weeks so I hope it stops soon. My cousin had the sleeve and is a few months ahead of me and she said it lasted about 2 months and is already growing back. She's 8 months out, so stay strong.

Yes about the same for me. Very healthy head of hair again now. I take biotin and use Olaplex shampoo and conditioner.
How long does the falling out last for? its been falling out by the handfulls for 2 weeks now. Does it stop soon? I hope sooooooo :(

I was losing hair for a good few months, it got very thin at the sides. I had about 4 inches cut off, started taking biotin and using the Olaplex and it’s great now. Don’t panic, I was devastated, but it does grow back!

I am thinking about getting hair extensions. Has anyone gone this route?
Well I didn't get hair extensions but I decided to get 2 wigs more for the fun of it. I've lost a lot that is noticeable on the sides and front so while I considered a messy bun, I didn't think that would work for me. It's pretty shocking when I put my hair in a pony tail how thin it has gotten. I had to wrap the band so many times around it so it didn't fall off. The picture to the left was when my hair started to fall out and hadn't gotten really bad yet. The pics bellow are with my wigs. I only wear them if I am doing a zoom or going out and don't wear them every day.

The extensions can actually make it worse... it should only last about a month to six weeks before slowing down.

I had soooo much hair b4 surgery I am 10 months out and still losing some but I'm still dropping weight I'm down 140 lbs and have about 40 more to go b4 I hit goals ... Does the hair start growing back once the weight loss stops? I'm freaking out here its been falling out for months when does it stop!!

Wow, Judy, you are GORGEOUS! Not only do you have a great wig, but your cosmetic skills are Hollywood-movie level! I don't remember your age; do you mind telling?

You must be psyched! Fab results!
Why thank you Diane! I am 66.

From what I hear it varies as to how long it lasts and how much. There is a very informative post on page 1 of this thread by Diane explaining more about it. Did you see it?

I just really started noticing it this weekend. I shave about 3/4 of my head so don't have a lot there but what I do have is very very thick. I dont know who is worse right now for shedding, me or the dogs...is a very close competition. I can remove it by the handle full and then when I look down my shirt is covered. I dont honestly mind losing some because of how thick my hair is but this is insane. The reason I shave most of my head is because of how much hair I have, how heavy/thick it gets on my head- no air and eventually when it was longer it was too much on my neck. Prior to covid growth the last 4 years what hair I have had I also kept to about 1/2" long max. Now since spring when they shut down hair places here I let it grow and its 3.5-4". I get it cut and thinned out every 3 weeks...guess I will be skipping the thinning.

I have thick coarse hair. I lost a lot of hair around post-op month 4-7. Felt noticeable to me but not to others. It has gone back to normal now at 9 months post- op. It thick and unruly again. I can’t wait until it’s safe to return to hair salons open again ;)

I’m actually looking forward to losing some of my hair. I have super thick hair and it gets sooo hot o_O drives me crazy!

I haven’t been losing anymore hair than normal yet, but I have noticed that it’s growing in gray/silver. Wasn’t doing that before surgery LOL

And maybe you won't but you are right about the time I started, so I don't want to speak too soon!
