greetings, I am ‘Em. This is my first post. I am a dog mom and a nurse in the lovely PNW.
I am scheduled in December and am so nervous. I feel like this is the best thing for me. I haven’t told my family as i know they will judge me. But my boyfriend knows and is so supportive. I have been bigger pretty much my whole life. So I’m use to being made fun of. i just feel like my family won’t understand. I have been looking for a support place & hope this is it.
I am 248
heaviest was 252
i have battled PCOS since I was 18. Along with the fun adventures that go along with PCOS.
I am excited but nervous.

Hi, Em. Welcome to the group. I think this group is an excellent source of support and if you use the search bar, you can find ideas of things to take to the hospital, tips on getting in your water, protein shake recipes .. the list goes on and on. I'm sorry you don't feel that your family would support you. It's a shame but it's good that your BF is so supportive. You have to do what is best for you; regardless of how anyone else feels about it. You're going to be blown away by how much better you feel. Good luck!

Welcome Em! I’m glad you found the group. A lot of families struggle with understanding our reasons behind WLS. Definitely do what’s right for you. My family was very supportive on the outside, but my mom had her reservations. She didn’t tell me until after the fact which I appreciated. I think what helped them is when I presented the surgery as a tool to help with my health issues, and included them in some of my pre op stuff. I showed them the videos that my doctors office had me view, and sent them my post op bariatric nutrition packet. It helped them feel included, but they knew that my success and commitment was not contingent on their involvement.
