So, my other question is,,, does anyone else take medication that increases appetite? I was 280 lbs before being put on the meds. I now weigh 450 lbs. Craaaaazzzzyyyyy!!!! So, how does one compensate for this when the urge to eat is literally life altering?
Thanks yall

There probably aren't any alternative medications or they would have switched you by now. Lyrica caused me to gain about 50 lbs in 2 months. They took me off it and listed it as an allergy. There weren't any alternatives but it was a drug that would have been helpful not needed.

Ask your doctor if there is a chance that after surgery the medication will not effect your weight.

Sadly that sounds like you will have to do your weight loss battle on two fronts after surgery. Luckily the tools of WLS, dramatically reduced stomach size, loss of appetite for many weeks and possibly months, plus all the support from your medical team & your new friends here will be the weapons you need to be successful. You will be able to do this!

Ask to see if there are alternative medications if not ask about flex in dosage. Many docs have their "standard" list of meds they use and don't really like to look outside of it unless forced. Many don't consider weight gain as a reason to switch but if pushed they will. Even if there is an alternative they might want you to stay on it to see if surgery reduces weight first.
