Struggling with post-op diet

I just had surgery on 8/26. I know the requirements but I just can’t seem to force myself to intake that much liquid. It took me 2 days to drink a 16.9 oz bottle of water. Granted I was also trying to drink an 11oz muscle milk. I was unable to finish either.
I did a bit better yesterday but I’m no where near the 64 oz that I should be at. I just feel so full all the time. Is this normal or should I be concerned? My intake is closer to 30 oz.
Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.

I just had surgery 8/16. I was the same when I got home. I got super worried because I didn’t want to get dehydrated. I couldn’t tolerate any protein powder drinks. I went to the gas station and got Gatorade Zero with Protein. It has 10g of protein in it. My dietitian was fine with that. Slowly I’m increasing my fluid intake. Some days are still better than other. Stay strong!!

I also had a hard time getting my protein and water in for about 3 months. Still days I do not get them all in. I did a timer for 10 min and would take a sip every 10 min. I was so happy to get rid of the timer going off all of the time. but I do think it helped me. Because I would and still just forget to drink.

I am six months out I get my water but I miss the protein more often than I would like to admit to. Dr. Wants to get 100 gr protein per day. I am using protein water and protein bars to supplement food. Special k makes a 15 gr protein cereal which is helping me. I use fairlife 2% milk. I have been eating Oscar Meyer P3, sorta like lunchables found in same area in store. I am getting closer to 100 gr of protein but it can be a challenge, especially on days when I travel for dr. Appoinments or am doing errands and shopping. Hang in there celebrate the days you make progress and get close.

I hope your tests are comprehensive. That alarms me. What reason do they give for a level that falls below the minimum? Sorry, I don't mean to pry. You're like a superhero in the DIY world. Do you actually eat almost no protein? If not, have they considered other risk factors? I wish you so much love and wellness.
They are saying I am not getting enough daily protein. The albumin is what they are calling the protein in the blood, which that is my impression, it is the only lab test that is low. I have previously struggled with getting the protein to 60mg and above. In the last month I have done better, averaging around 70 mg per day. In the last week I have even made the 100 gr level at least 5 days out of 7 days. I am guessing my body doesn’t store protein. I think it is getting better. The lab work has been done after fasting from night before since I don’t eat for the 2.5 hour drive up to dr office, so about 12-15 hours from last food. They are planning on doing a blood panel work up before the hip surgery at the local VA office, might make a difference. Ten- fifteen min drive verses 2.5 hour drive. I don’t know. Good questions I would say.
