This sucks

My son and I were doing some yard work for my sister on Thursday, and went back Sunday with more members of my family to finish. During the process we got exposed to poison ivy. Unfortunately, I am very allergic and so is my son. Luckily the rest of my family is ok. I have to start prednisone, but in order to take it and keep my stomach safe I have to take omeprazole and sucralfate (4 times a day dissolved in water because it’s a freaking horse pill!!) for 3 weeks. I’m glad I reached out to my bariatric team before I got the prednisone Rx to see how I could safely take it. I’m never going outside again lol

My mom has had it so many times in life that she now simply gets it by it just being in the air. She said the best topical treatment she did for it was yeast infection cream.

This is the only thing I’ve found so far that helps. I’m not even sure if the prednisone is working. It might be. The rash could be worse I guess, but I woke up with new spots this morning on my neck and face. I’ve washed all my pillows and linens plus all the things I touched (inside the car, door knobs, handles) Slowest reaction time ever! I’m slightly worried it’s on my tongue but at this point I don’t think there’s anything else the doctor could do.

I had poison Ivy in my eye and on my face as a kid. My face was swollen and my eye was swollen could not see. Do not know how long that lasted because I was a kids and time was so slow back than. I got into smoke when it was being burned.

I remember too well that as a child I got it several times a year, Once on right side of my face and arm from smoke when I turned as the wind shifted. I still have a scar on my arm from it when it would not clear up.

Thank goodness medicine has progressed in 60 years because it was just something you were expected to get over.
